Official: Siemens can transfer train license to Ural Locomotives
YEKATERINBURG, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- Ural Locomotives, a joint venture between Sinara and Siemens, will produce a new series of Sapsan trains for Russian Railways instead of Siemens, and the firms are discussing a license transfer, First Russian Railways Deputy CEO Alexander Misharin said on the sidelines of a trade fair on Wednesday.
“The price is proprietary information, it is not disclosed until a contract is signed. The delivery terms are being discussed and I can say confidently that company Urals Locomotoves will be the producer. The negotiations continue, discussion of a production license transfer, the price and terms of post-sale service are discussed,” Misharin said.
Siemens said in July 2017 that all the four turbines meant to be used on a Russian power plant on the Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing it to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies.
